The UK government has announced it will be making almost £22 billion available over 25 years for carbon capture and emissions management projects in Teeside and Merseyside.
As well as creating thousands of jobs, the funding is a commitment towards the target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The exact figure - £21.7 billion - is expected to be announced by Sir Kier Starmer ahead of the upcoming international investment summit.
